RELAPSE 2 NAME CHANGE?

who else thinks that Relapse 2 will come out under a different name. I do, because it only would have made sense to call it relapse 2 if it actualy came out shortly after relapse. i think he really scrapped relapse 2, put out the songs for refill and is going in a totally different direction now (which is what he said anyway). im not comin up with any ideas but i dont think we will have an album called relapse 2, since its going in a different direction than relapse

But, i still think refill only having 5 songs on it is saying that the whole serial killer direction he's in is in full effect.

I think if you had a bunch of songs that relate to relapse1, which is mostly scary, dark, killing crap and you only scrap 5 songs in the course of 9 months then...thats still the direction your in...or we would have seen more songs on refill.

Hence, relapse1 and the new album will be similar in concept...therefor... relapse2

If he named it different with a different concept then the whole 2 disks thing would be pointless, which is what has been promoted from day 1

I have a strong feeling he's going to change the name and come on in interview saying "yeah back in the studio we changed the direction bla bla bla so we felt the name didn't fit".

anyway, i always liked "The Empact", that name was rumored in late '08 I think.

I liked the Empact as well as King Mathers from past rumors. Another one is the funeral if this would be it for him. Unlikely since he already broke the cycle of show, encore, curtain call, by putting out re up and relapse and now refill.

Since its a whole different direction than relapse he needs to change the name and become more creative with it.

I'd be surprised if he didnt keep the relapse theme. Like I said, since the first disk its been a double disk theme, so breaking that theme would be odd.

And if it isnt relapse, I could see it being something like "Recovery" or whatever. As if the relapse is done and now hes recovering, to play along with the real life story.

Either way Im sure Ill be happy with the name. I thought relapse was great. I didnt like how refill only had a few songs cuz technically, if you refill a prescription your getting the same amount of medication. And refill did not medicate me enough.

Bottom line is, Im sure he'll be sticking with the theme hes created since day 1.

A name change isn't totally necessary tbh, even if the songs are on a totally different vibe to Relapse. All it takes is a bit of creativity in the albums intro, and then it can work

For instance all he has to do is make a new intro skit, and say something on it similiar to what he has said in recent interiews, regarding how Relapse was more punchline/jokey and this album (Relapse 2) is more serious. I don't know how exactly to word it, but could maybe be a phone call from that Steve Berman guy - remember there was a skit on Relapse when he was in Steve Berman's office, handed over 2 CD's and then he told him to get out of the office. The intro skit for Relapse 2 could be Eminem phoning Steve Berman and a conversation like

I agree that a name change isn't necessary but that doesn't mean it isn't the better move.

Sure he could get away with calling it Relapse 2 or find a way to interlink them. But I wish he would change the name. It'll probably remain Relapse 2 due to marketing and the label wanting to eat off of the 1st album's success by means of a continum.

But, given the apparent stark nature of the new tracks and total fresh vibe / zone... I think it's just a wasted opportunity to just call it that.

This is shaping up, purely from inside speculation, his lyrical space right now, reaction and his own talks on the album - To be possibly his best. And from what Mr. Porter said, possibly one of the best fucking hip-hop albums period.

So lets not squabble about whether we can trust all of that and it's not just hype and yada yada, lets just imagine this album really is that good. Lets imagine this thing is a masterpiece.

How fucking lame will it be to have such a masterpiece and the best in his collection called Relapse 2. Or anything #2. It's lame anyway to have #2's with albums, like it's a fucking blockbuster movie. Would of worked with the original tracks as they're so utterly similar in tone and feel.

But he could give this a truly fitting name and make it much more memorable in rap history. It's just lazy and pointless to call it Relapse 2 at this point. IMO.
