I just hope the rumours about him molding it to be more emotional for commercial sakes aren't true. Although I can't imagine they are given his career stage.

I just hope it's true to him and he's trying to please nobody but himself. If he does that, I think he'll come out with genius - Like The Marshall Mathers LP.

To all you motherfuckers who are getting so hyper about the album being a classic, just a warning: if the album doesn't live up to your expectations, don't say I didn't warn you.

Don't Believe the Hype...

Well I don't believe 'hype', I look very specifically at reactions.

The fact that 50 said Relapse 1 was a 'treat' BUT no.2 was 'exciting' and that was the original R2, that signals even the original R2 must of been special.

So the fact he's re-done it, I don't believe 'hype', I believe ambition.

And I heard Mr. Porter speaking very honestly about it on a small, almost unheard British hip-hop station. It wasn't some huge commercial hype-machine station, he wasn't lying.

He said Relapse 2 has zero filler and there's no 'quaky music' now. I think Em was trying to please fans with Relapse but the mixed reaction just made him say fuck it and do what he wants.

His interview with Complex was also very revealing. Saying he hasn't made the perfect album yet but he's trying every day, he's trying to make an album that is 100% relevant and important. He seems much more ambitious and focused than ever before now.

So, when a genius of his stature is this focused and determined to make a classic, I just can't see him failing. As long as he tries to please nobody but himself I think he'll do it.

I wasn't here when Relapse came out but I'm curious what made people have faith and excited about Relapse? Encore? I'm having a Relapse freestyle? Not to mention ALL the collabs between his break time are horrible too  At least right now after we have The Warning, Forever we have some proofs to believe in.

Lol you and others are saying this as if it's a fact that Relapse was a dud album.

To YOU maybe but to others it's a fucking good album. I know what you want, you just hate the accents, well okay, that's personal taste but it doesn't mean everybody does.

I love Relapse. It's lyrical as fuck and his poetry is on another level. The flows are insanely addictive too.

lol I can listen to half of it and I love Deja Vu but it's far from classic. But I wasn't disappointed as I never expected it to be a classic from the first place. Actually I was happy to see his rhymes (real rhymes) again :sweating: Also it's not like he can comes out of rehab and put out a straight classic. It's a process, it takes time, thats why his rap is getting better everyday to the point he wants to scrap the old songs. I think even R2 didn't turn out to be classic, it would still be better than Relapse at least.

I agree it's not a classic but don't agree that it's far from one.

If he had totally committed to the concept as apposed to throwing random personal shit in there and also got rid of "Crack a Bottle" then it wouldn't be far off at all for me.

I think Relapse 2 will be a classic though.

I wasn't here neither. But i was in other forum, and everybody was like that because of what they say about the album. Now they're saying R2 will be fucking dope, insane , emotional a classic ...blahblkah
And when Relapse was going to be released, there was a hype, not exactly the same as now with R2,but there was a big hype. And people were excited. And then..PF dissapointed.
