Well I think he has some amazing colabs. Colabs seem like a way of showing 'don't mess with me' kind of thing. For example in 'Forever' he murdered his verse. However he has awesome songs himself, when he needs to show he is the man he does. No one doubts him then.

I think Em brings it more on other artists' collaborations, rather than on his own.

it's because when eminem is one a track with any other artist, he's putting one big unavoidable abstractly colored blot on a solid canvas.

An odd analogy, i know, but that's the only way I can put it. He puts other artists to shame on tracks, and it's not because he's saving his best shit, he just is the best shit period. To tell another artist to keep their head above water with Em on a track, is like telling a 3 year old to draw Mona Lisa.

The reason it doesn't seem the same on his own songs is because it's him all the way through, and you subconsciously adapt to the track from the first word that comes out of his mouth.

its that way because when he features its only usually a verse, so if he kills a verse, as a whole you think he killed it. but in a song, it's very hard to ever kill 3 verses, and even if you do no one will ever say all 3 verses were equally that great, which will cause you to think of one verse as the weakest, even tho all three might be amazing. get what I mean?

for example on renegade, his first verse he murdered, voted top 20 verses in rap history right. well even if the 2nd verse he spit was the second best verse ever behind his first verse, it's still second, and therefore inferior. it's psychological

I think the right amount of collabs. A few, carefully crafted and chosen ones (not filler) can illuminate and add to an album rather than detract to it.

I also would rather not hear Dre on it. Dre sounds great on the mic obviously and they have good chemistry but it's always just a filler track now.
