He said he started to become addicted around Encore.

Wasn't like a drug addiction for high-ness though it was an addiction to sleep medication because he needed them to sleep. Hence him mentioning them on "When I'm Gone" too.

But then when Proof died he used that as Menzo said, as a scapegoat. Used it to rationalize and say "well I've lost a friend so it's okay".

I actually had the same thing happen to me. One of my best friends got killed by accident with a pellet gun (age 17) and I moved to another city (unrelated) - Met this guy and was crying now and then when drunk over it. And slowly became addicted to Co-Codamel which have Codeine in them.

Which Em was also taking. Codeine is a great relaxer. Glad I stopped them though. But I too just thought "fuck it, this has happened so...". Just using it as an excuse.

man stop it, you are not eminem and you dont know him any better than anyone in this forum. Unless eminem is quoted with a response to this question, its all just stupid speculations, with a life changing tale from eminembase

I think both did... what about Bugz?
When did Ronnie I'm just asking because it sounds like it happened when he was big in his career

I really can't pick one, both death had affected him so much, it's never easy to handle something like this...

Proof. Sure Ronnie was important to him but nowhere near Proof's influence imo. Proof's been on his side for too long, Proof may mean even more than a brother to him. I doubt he will ever be recovered completely from Proof's death actually.

Well, in his "The Way I Am" book, he states: "I can't even bring myself back to the place I was when I heard what happened to Proof. I have never felt so much pain in my life. It's a pain that is with me to this day. A pain that has become a part of who I am." I'd say that means he was closer to Proof than to Ronnie.
