Absolutely. They add variety and stop a song feeling so ABC. It's good to play with the forumla, it's what being a true artist is all about. Mixing up the medicine pot and seeing what happens. The day when an artist just goes through the motions I think is the day they should quit.

Which is probably why Em did so after Encore because that's the only album of his where you get that sense. Like he was just going through the motions. Like "okay fans, here you go - Here's a zany song, a political song, a Halie song... Erm, a few manic-romance songs and some crazy rap". It's like he was just trying to please people instead of pushing boundries.
