^^ And at no point have I said dre doesn't deserve credit and I'm no dickriding fan thanks.

You think he deserves more credit than I give him, I think he deserves less than everyone else gives him.

You think Dre is an undisputaple giant which made Eminem. I think he's a great producer who gave Em the stamp of approval and helped boost his image but is ultimately, grossly overrated and over-credites. Bass Bros deserve more credit in grooming / blowing up Em than him.

Clearly neither of us are shifting from that so may as well just agree to disagree.

Early on Dre was huge for Em, he really got him into the spotlight, especially by featuring Em on ''200'1, but nowadays its Em who is keeping Dre in the spotligt

^ Totally agree.

Especially on Cashis and 50, he seems deluded about them. They're both awful.

The Slim Shady lp he produced one track, which was "my fault", and the mmlp he produced 2 songs (Stan/The Way I Am) himself, and co-produced 4 songs...you were right about the eminem show tho, I think he produced all but like 1 or 2 tracks

And Dr. Dre is a legend, whether people thinks he is good or not it doesn't matter, in the hip-hop world for he is the it man when it comes to producing.

Was it Rich Girl?

I actually think that is pretty relevant, it's a good question, and I have no fucking idea the answer haha

eminem is an emcee, dre is a producer. eminembase you are probably some 15 year old kid that just got into hip hop and acts like he knows everything. it doesn't matter what dre the artist has done, he's a producer.

dre has executive-produced, co-produced, or involved in the following:

NWA - straight outta compton, efil4zaggin
Snoop - doggystyle
2pac - all eyez on me
DOC - no one can do it better
Warren G - regulate.. G funk era
Tha Dogg Pound - dogg food
eminem - SSLP, MMLP, TES
50 cent - get rich or die tryin
The Game - documentary
himself - the chronic, chronic 2001
the firm - the album

i would say decades of influence is spot-on. it's cool to think em is a better producer than dre, everyone has their opinions but if you think dre stunted em's growth or that he is some talentless idiot who gained success solely through eminem you are the biggest herb ever.

no dre = no eminem, no 50 cent, no snoop, no ice cube, no eazy e, no the game, no warren g, no daz, no kurupt. lol all those names are recognizable to the most casual hip hop fan and about 5 of those names are part of an elite group of i'd say top 15-20 hip hop artists of all time. herb.

That line can also apply to Em/Dre too. Dre didn't invent Eminem, but a star is what he made him!

In my humble opinion, The Chronic and 2001 both weren't classics. :y:

The Chronic had fucking dope production, but faltering lyricism that makes you smh at times.

2001 had great production, and although had better rhyme schemes, it was the same song & dance.

Sticking to the topic, without Dr. Dre, Eminem wouldn't be where he was today. Dr. Dre would have never found his demo tape and never got signed to Aftermath, Dre's fledgling label. And to even say that Eminem is a better overall producer than Dr. Dre is more than a reach. Perhaps, some of Slim's beats are more suitable to Eminem's content, but Dr. Dre is, without a reasonable doubt, a more accomplished record producer and overall businessman. :b:

well in the beginning it was everytime that eminem and dr dre worked together on any eminem album it would be fire but now it seems that dr dre is getting a little sloppy on his production and eminem now sober seems to be imnproving on his. by eminem working with new producers it will help fans see if it will benefit him or not and as well give us a new sound for eminem to experiment with

Dre is a legend, as someone said previously, no Dre = No Em + No Game (my 2 favorite rappers), and I don't know about anyone else but Dres first few lines on Old Times Sake gave me goosebumps :8)

Probably wont be a popular opinion but I think Dre should scrap Detox, I think the guys 48 now? and I can see him bringing it out in the next couple years, who wants to listen to a 50 year old rapper?, who wants to try and relate to any of a 50 year olds lyrics? fuck, I can remember when my grandma was 50!

Amadeo wrote:i can't believe people are saying eminem's a better producer than Dr Dre in this thread. wow.

i believe someone cited "Cleaning Out My Closet" as an eminem beat superior to dre's. this is really shoddy production (the drums sound so lame, the snare is weak as hell) & most of dre's catalog blows it out of the water. compare eminem's drums with dr dre's drums (which sound so much more crisp & thumping).

listen to how embarrassing a beat like "My 1st Single" is. the drums are some of the most annoying, clicky sounds ever. in fact, eminem's lacklustre skills with drums has made many of his beats mediocre (crap drums in Mockingbird, Yellow Brick Road, Marshall Mathers).

most of the songs on The Chronic & 2001 (along with everything made for other artists) destroy eminem's production (apart from beats like lose yourself & 'till i collapse, which are fantastic i'll admit).

^^^^ Why were there no sensible people around when the discussion was going on? lol
