i believe someone cited "Cleaning Out My Closet" as an eminem beat superior to dre's. this is really shoddy production (the drums sound so lame, the snare is weak as hell) & most of dre's catalog blows it out of the water. compare eminem's drums with dr dre's drums (which sound so much more crisp & thumping).
listen to how embarrassing a beat like "My 1st Single" is. the drums are some of the most annoying, clicky sounds ever. in fact, eminem's lacklustre skills with drums has made many of his beats mediocre (crap drums in Mockingbird, Yellow Brick Road, Marshall Mathers).
most of the songs on The Chronic & 2001 (along with everything made for other artists) destroy eminem's production (apart from beats like lose yourself & 'till i collapse, which are fantastic i'll admit).
wow, your ignorant!
drums are definitely an important factor when mentioning good beats. but no where in hell does it mean the beat will overall be better then beats with an inferior drummix or lesser drums to begin with.
take COMC for example. imo, the beat is perfect and close to being one of the best in eminems production catalogue. creativly and melodicly it beats atleast 50 % out of all those on the chronic 2001.
the truth of the matter is, dr dre is overrated when it comes to his overall productionscheme. just because he has had allot of good hits in the past doesn't mean he is overall the best producer. now, eventho I think he is one of the best still hanging in the game, I do acknowledge him not being consistent enough to keep praising him whenever someone's talking about the best. now take eminem for instant. he will never surpass dre's superior mixing skills and feel for the westcoast community, but, creatively, he is way beyond. where dre usually (not always) keeps to his formula, eminem go's further. now ofcourse eminem does not have such a big repertoire when compared to dre, but relatively, eminem has been more consistent then dre ever has. now I could name names and give you my personal statistical opinion composed chart, but that is just a hassle.
feel free to discuss.
