No it's not. We clearly have a different definition of commercial then.
"We Made You" is a pop-Eminem single but not a pop single. He made it to be catchy and be clean enough to go out. Of course it's strictly for radio play because nothing else on the album was so he needed a fucking single.
But talking about popping sleeping pills and slaughtering your audience is by no means commercial. It's catchy, it's zany, it's more exaggerated and stupid and it's cleaned up for radio - YES. But it's not fucking commercial. It feels old because Em does it every time but that's a different thing.
The subject matter isn't commercial and the execution isn't either. He's using a very technical spitfire flow and he isn't paticularly dumbing down the rhyming or vocabulary. Saying things like "Well I can be as gentle and as smooth as a gentlemen", "I swear them other guys, they take a mile if you give em' an inch" and "pop a little Zantac for antacid" if you can isn't watered down for public consumption.
He's still tailored it specifically to people who know him, he hasn't sold his persona down the river, he even talks about his pilk fucking Elf shirt. He's nothing other than true to hip-hop and himself. "We Made You" is stale and rehashed. And catchy. But not commercial and not pop. Different things.
