If the full album leaks, I'll download a few songs, but I'll avoid some of them just so I can listen them "officially" when I buy the album.
Lmao I don't see the point of that.
I like having the CD as a physical thing to and adding it to my collection. But the songs are going to sound the same, why 'save' them lmao, it's the same music, delivered to your ears in the same way.
That's... flat out wrong.
Downloaded files are in MP3 format.
CD files are in AAC format.
AAC is far superior in sound quality to MP3.
That's the reason I buy CD's, so I can hear the music in the quality intended by the production.
No it's not flat out wrong at all. Do you seriously think I'm not aware of file compression.
People rip from CD's directly now and there's hardly any quality degrading. In MP3 sure but even with MP3 - Unless you want to blast the shit at a ridiculous volume, you won't notice it.
We're talking about drums, basslines and rhymes not fucking Mozart. You cannot notice a significant difference, no matter how much you're into production from a normal level playing MP3 track and a CD track.
It's not even close to a significant enough difference to bother waiting an extra few weeks to buy it on CD. Not close at all. Just like I can download a DVD rip of a movie to check it before I buy it. Now, it won't be the exact same quality as if you actually bought the DVD but it's so close it's not worth mentioning. Unless you're inspecting the screen with a magnifying glass.
Seeing the movie in SLIGGGGGHHHTLY better pixelation doesn't get the movie accross better to me. Doesn't create better characters. As long as I can see the movie clearly I don't care.
In the same respect, hearing Em's beats in a stupidly small quality-increased sound (with the volume I play tracks at, just on my PC when checking shit out) doesn't get Em's rhymes across better. Doesn't emphasize his ideas or genius anymore to me.
I check art for ideas, concepts, inspiration. It's more than obsessive quality-checks of background drums. Like I give a fuck. I'll buy the CD when it comes but if it leaks 2 weeks early I'm not going to deprive myself of mind-blowing music because "OH NO, OH GOODNESS, HANG HIM, HE CAN'T HEAR THE 5TH SNARE QUITE AS CLEARLY ON FULL BLAST".
