Worse than Heroin. That's why some countries opt to just give people Heroin at clinics instead of Methadone. My understanding is that it's been quite successful, curbing the black market sales, and allowing people to go about fairly normal lives.

What is Methadone used for?

Curing cancer.

Lol, so why did Eminem use it?

Its mostly used for detoxing people off of opiates (heroin, painkillers). They'll start you at say 50mg of methadone and then gradually ween you down to less and less over a few months until you're completely off of it. Its powerful as fuck though when in the wrong hands which leads to overdoses. I opted for suboxen when i detoxed.

Some people stay on Methadone for much longer.

Heavy opiate users may stay on a steady regimen of Methadone for years.

He most likely didn't know one of his prescribed drugs had meth in it. When you get prescribed medication from dealers they can easily alter the ingredients in it.

They didn't alter the ingredients in the drugs.

And he was asking that because you told him it was a cure for cancer. Since it's not, it becomes more obvious as to why he was taking it.

You were right in the fact that he didn't know what he was taking. Although I would never refer to Methadone as "Meth"...that's kind of misleading, as it's never referred to as Meth. Anyway, his dealer told him it was like Vicoden, just easier on the liver, which isn't exactly a genuine comment.

I don't know what kind of behavior people expect from him. Various people on twitter said he chatted with random people, signed autographs, waved them etc. He didn't come there to attend a street party. He went there to work. The youtube videos show him and the crew shooting scenes for the video. It was hard enough to do the job with random passerby people shouting, trying to take a pic of him and mingling with the crew. Many people have a problem to talk in front of the camera, let alone act in front of screaming pedestrians. I know many people that don't see themselves as socially awkward and they wouldn't be able to perform like this in front of the cameras.

If he payed attention to the people that screamed his name or waved at him, they would be still there shooting the video now, tomorrow... He was being as professional as the circumstances on the busy street allowed him to be but it doesn't mean he acted like a robot during breaks.

I think socially awkward were those screaming people that couldn't control themselves just because he's famous. Not to mention they were taking pics in front of his face. Perhaps the awkward reactions of some people made him feel awkward. :p

Moving to Michigan, probably.
I'm almost positive that if he had stayed in Missouri, none of us would know his name right now.

Both of them, one at the beginning of his career and the other during his hiatus. I think the first one opened his eyes, and the second put his life into perspective. (Im still waiting for him to say a line like " try to kill me, i already cheated death twice :D )

No-fuckin'-doubt.

IMO i think he was just living it up and would goof around constantly cause life became so easy for him and i think now that hes clean and has taken a step back he has realized hes 37 years old, and he wants people to take him more seriously.

& to the guy who said Eminem wasn't socially awkward, um, how do you know.. by most accounts, including himself (why would someone lie about something like that), & his mother's, he got picked on a lot & had trouble making friends

how long have some of you people been into Eminem, i get the distinct impression you werent there through half of his career and are basing your opinions on a bunch of youtube videos from the time which is a tiny amount of "evidence" as it were.

i do agree with some of the later posts though about the drugs, pretty sure that was it.

Yup, that's like me. I can be happy but I don't necessarily walk around smiling. I don't even like taking pictures with a smile.

It's just the way it is.
