Em fans need to stop dismissing Slaughterhouse signing

Postby MikeNUFC » May 22nd, '10, 14:04

Whenever this topic gets brought up, I see loads of comments from a section of Em fans saying stuff like "this isn't big news", "couldnt care less" etc etc.

I find it so suprising that people aren't more excited by this.

Were talking about four of the most talented artists of the time signing to Eminem's label, and looking set to be his only great signing since Obie Trice. This is HUGE news.

I understand some Eminem fans aren't massively into hip hop as a whole (that's not an insult, I dont really care what other fans listen to) but this isn't only good for hip-hop, having such lyrical competition on his label will only improve Em and be great for his music.

Not only does it mean he'll likely be on SH's album, (we could even hear some street singles) but collabs with Royce look likely and we all know that brings the best out of Em and being on tracks with some decent artists will up Em's game, I'm sure, compared to working with Wayne and other such crap.

It could also start the revival of Shady Records. Em's work rate seems to go up when Royce is around so it could encourage Em to work harder on the label itself and try to get it to a massive place in hip-hop, which it has the potential to, as working with Eminem will be a huge incentive to sign to SR.

I think people are just frustrated, and like me....want it confirmed ASAP

Cus there's 4 of them, these so many in's and out's and loads of people associated with each artist so they've got to work that out. I think that's what Joell said a week/2 weeks ago. Thats why theres a hold up.

Yeah I'm aware of all the implications / problems that are preventing the immediate confirmation, still doesn't make it any less annoying though. (as someone who badly wants this to happen)

Hopefully soon after Recovery has been released, they will make the announcement? Who knows, Slaughterhouse might even have a track on Recovery...

They've definietly made a track (produced by JB), whether it'll make Recovery is a different matter. Will probably be released as a street single to promote SH's signing a month or so after Rvy drops.

Great news indeed

I think it'll inject life back into Shady Records and becuase Em wont be releasing a load more albums he can focus more intently on the label, especially after Rvy drops.

It is big news, but Shady Records is a shit label, imo.

Take Cashis for example, has been signed with Em for ages now and still hasn't dropped an album, Em can't run a label properly, if he gives each member a decent budget to put out an album, then Ill be excited, otherwise it's just another failed signing by Em.

Btw, he should have signed Royce around the time Death Is Certain dropped, Royce hasn't been near the same level since that album

It is, but I think having SH and espeically, Royce around him, it'll encourage Em to work harder on the label. Once Recovery drops and he does his shows and what not, he'll have time before his next album (I assume that'll be out late 2011/2012) to really push Shady Records forward and get some more decent acts on board.

Disagree, Em is at fault for certain things I.E signing people who are lets be honest....shitty (we know who im refering to lol). But actually running it? Shady records is just a underhang of so many other labels but overall its Interscope calling the shots if you want your album out because esentially its them parting with the cash, Not Eminem.

Really? I was under the impression that Shady Records was it's own seperate label run by Em, I didn't realise that it was under control by other labels, in that case Em can't be at fault in regards to the promotion/output of the artists.

Yeah that is true, and in fairness, every SH member is better than the likes of Cashis, and I think Em will focus more on the label now that he has some good rappers to work with.

We'll see what happens, I honestly believe that with a decent budget and a reasonable deadline, SH could drop an amazing album., heres hoping!

the thing is, unless Em does make Shady Records independent, Slaughterhouse is gonna have a hard time dropping an album on Interscope

Interscope is the distributor, everything released under a lable thats under interscope has to get an approval by Jimmy Iovine which means that Iovine can say: "fuck you and your album it's not radio friendly enough".

Anyway's I agree it's big news and I think it can only be positive. Can't wait for that JB produced track with Em and SH, I can't see that flopping.
