I'll bet a lot of people got into him through When I'm Gone/Curtain Call. But I think right now he is gaining more fans than ever before besides the 1999-2003 period.

I always find it weird when people become fans after hearing his Encore era stuff lol But then again, you heard the greatest hits :y:

Many people confuse getting popular with selling-out. Fact is, he has always said exactly what he wants, however he's wanted to say it. He's kept his artistic integrity.

Also, beyond that - He's still able to sound totally different on each new album. Despite being on his 7th actual studio album now, every single one sounds totally different. You have no idea what he could say next or what he'll sound like saying it. Which is exciting.

Now they're hearing him for the first time and many will scoop up his past catalogue. So now he has a new generation of fans, plus all the fans who were teens when he first came out, and even the fans who were in their twenties/thirties when he came out.

So he has 4 decades worth of people who are fans...this is absolutely crazy. I don't know what else to compare it to.

I'm in the 15 year old category... but by no-means a "new" Em fan.

Just curious...when did you first get into Eminem?

I remember starting to like music when I was 7 or 8, but I didn't buy my first CD until I was 9 or 10. Even then it was Michael Jackson, Guns N Roses and Nirvana, which is so much more innocuous than Em's early stuff.

I'd like to share my story. I was never a fan of rap music for a long time. I liked alternative rock music mostly, I didn't really begin liking music 'til I was 12, which is really late. My friend, though, liked Eminem a lot and his dad bought him the 8 Mile soundtrack. I listened to it with him, and it was good for rap music, so he let me borrow the sample cd that comes with 8 Mile. I listened to "Stimulate" and I really really liked it. But, I still didn't fuck with his music, because I still didn't like rap music a lot. When I was 17 (in 2007) and riding in the car with my friends, "Without Me" comes on the radio. They all knew the lyrics and I didn't, and I found myself really liking it. I asked who it was and one of them said "Eminem, duh, only one of the greatest rappers of this generation". So, I went home that night and downloaded The Eminem Show and listened to the whole thing. "White America" starts and I'm instantly hooked. I go out and buy TES and it quick becomes my favorite cd ever. Next, I bought Curtain Call, and I liked that. I ended up downloading all this cds and I liked every one of them, so I bought all of his cds one day. I heard he was coming out with a new album, Relapse, so I was excited. Ever since then, I've been following Em, and I've opened myself up to more rap music, which has quickly become my favorite genre. Em opened up a lot of doors for rap fans, got a lot of people into rap. And now, I bump Recovery daily and haven't gotten bored, I'm 20 now. No artist ever got me excited for new music as much as Eminem does

So yeah, I came in really late to the game. I missed all the Eminem hype of the early 2000's, and it's good to see him getting that hype back

Came back to annihilate, the game's in dire straights, as I await
Word on Satan, as I drop, fall to my knees before this Quija board and I pray
Now I lay me down to sleep
I do this shit in my sleep, I’m sleepin' now, imagine if I awake
