CWB is easily one of the best tracks on the album.
And yeah they're both great tracks. There really isn't a single WEAK track on the album. There are tracks I skip due to not liking them as much or having heard them too much... But they're not actually bad. Album is top to bottom consistent.
I think it'll garner more praise as the years go on. I think it was difficult for these two albums to get true fair shots anyway, from anybody. Given the expectations, the fact its a huge comeback etc. not saying everybody is wrong but I think as the years pass, the smoke and mirrors bullshit fades and the tracks set-in, they'll definitely get higher regarded.
His "On Fire" rhyming is class too...
Christmas is off, this is as soft as it gets, this isn’t golf
This is a blistering assault.
Those are your wounds this is the salt
So get lost, Shit dissin me is just like pissin off the wizard of oz
Wrap a lizard in gauze,
Beat you in the jaws with it, grab the scissors and saws
And cut out your livers gizzards and balls
Throw you in the middle of the ocean in a blizzard with jaws.
So sip piss like sizzurp through a straw
Then describe how it tasted like dessert to us all
Got the gall to make Chris piss in his drawers
Tickle him, go to his grave, skip him and visit his dog
That whole segment just sounds orgasmic with all the S's and Z's. I don't ever hear anybody else playing around to that degree with the sounds of words alone. Like purposely placing / picking words that all mesh and clash in that way to sound like that.
This is really great too...
I'm a skillet / you're a fucking flash in a pan
I pop up, you bitches scatter like hot grease splashin a fan
Mr. Mathers is the man
Yeah I’m pissed but I would rather take this energy and stash it in a can
Come back and whip your ass with it again
Saliva's like sulfuric acid in your hand
It’ll eat through anything metal, the ass of iron man
Turn him into plastic, so for you to think that you could stand a fuckin chance is asinine, yeah ask Denaun man
At first I used to think "On Fire" was meh just due to thinking it was kind of aimless. But then when you just enjoy it as a word-fest it's very satisfying.
