Santa Claus has been declared a Canadian citizen.
Santa’s home at the North Pole lies in a disputed area between Russia, Norway, Canada, the United States, and Denmark. However, back in 2008 Canada made their feelings about St. Nick very clear - he is legally considered to be Canadian! The country says that their claim is upheld by the fact that Santa’s robes more closely resemble the Canadian flag and that a postal code of H0H 0H0 was established long ago for letters to Santa.
According to Jason Kenney, the minister of Citizenship, Immigration and Multiculturalism, as a Canadian citizen, Santa has the right to fly over Canadian airspace any time.
"The Government of Canada wishes Santa the very best in his Christmas Eve duties and wants to let him know that, as a Canadian citizen, he has the automatic right to re-enter Canada once his trip around the world is complete."
