I'm doing exactly what you're doing.

Recovery is a phenomenal album, and that's all I care.

Pop music is music made to be popular, in other words music that's catchy that all the tweens will bump until they move on to the next trend.
Like the Chief said, pop is a genre.

that is a hugely subjective "definition" of pop music.... using it however. my little brother (13year old) came home from school one day (i got him into eminem) someone asked him what he was listening to on the bus or something and he said eminem. the girl says "is it love the way you lie or that other one?" [referring to Not Afraid]. clearly his singles from recovery [which are only somewhat different from the rest of the album] appealed to radio fanboy "tweens" as you say.
i agree with acid that eminem is obviously a pop icon and recovery is pop because it is popular. it is obviously a rap/hip hop album (which is what acid said) more than it is a pop album.
I am praying that this deviation of em's to a more radio friendly, mainstream style is a temporary one and his next album (with the influence of Joe budden, and production by dre) will be more eminem and less "tried to fit in every single place every school i went"

This!
I like Recovery not because it is a Rap album but because it's a great album. I don't give a damn if recovery was considered pop or rock, it still will be Recovery. Image if critis today would say that TES was more rock than rap, the album, for me, will remain one of the best album ever or the one i like more
