See I agree with pretty much everything Mike said and I quite like him as a poster, at the same time it's only telling one side of a story.

There are a lot of posters on this forum who are pretty ignorant, determined Eminem is Jesus and can walk on water willing to lynch every single person who disagrees with their beliefs. At the same time you have people who seem to sit lurking in the Eminem section waiting for someone to comment on his newer songs and do nothing but criticise them. The criticism isn't what irks me, it's the manner in which the criticisms are posted. It's usually along the lines of:

Person1: "This is shit, bring back 2000 Shady"
Person2: "OMG Person1 get off this site, you obviously don't like Eminem anymore"
Person3: "Person1 why don't you like this song much?"

In the above situation Person1 has stated they dislike the song but without substantiating their opinion. They aren't saying WHY they dislike the song meaning no decent debate can come of the post...i.e. useless.

Person2 is pretty ignorant with the reply and assumes instantly that Person1 is just hating on a song and doesn't like anything and never will. Person3 on the other hand directly asks Person1 why they dislike the song, this part could spark decent conversation. A nice reply could be something along the lines of:

Person1: "I don't know, I found the vocals overbearing making it not too nice to listen to, coupled with a flow I dislike, I prefer a consistent flow instead of a sporadic one jumping all over the place trying like he's trying to catch up with himself"

The problem is, that rarely happens, in most circumstances you get one of the two responses:

Person1: "OMG Person2 you're such a Stan, listen to real Hip-Hop you obviously know nothing"

Notice the ignoring of Person3 entirely because they know they do not intend to have a decent discussion.

or

Person1: "I don't like this song because it sucks, Person3 you are an idiot if you think otherwise, it's obvious why this song sucks and if you don't know why you're an idiot"

This time Person1 recognises Person3 but instead of starting the discussion it instantly turns into a personal affair where Person1 instead of wanting to voice their opinion on WHAT they don't like about a song they just try to diminish someone else's intellect. It wouldn't even be that bad if the response was along the lines of:

Person1: "To be honest, I don't really know what I like about the song I just can't seem to enjoy it as much as I do other songs"

At least that way they are ending the conversation and there are no arguments and people don't have to try and act tough asserting their knowledge to try and to belittle other people usually with the excuse of "I'm just pissing off Stans".

Well this is my second post about this in 2 days and I'm going to go and learn some more stuff (god I wish I could enjoy Bank Holidays like a normal person).

Have a good night all.

P.S. I haven't proof read this at all so for any stupid mistakes I apologise

If you dislike most/all his music after his comeback...you really don't qualify as a "fan" anymore. You've now entered the wonderful world of being a "hater." If I stop liking something, I move on.

I am not gonna defend anyone because this kind of people disgust me.
But in the other hand you have the trolls...the "This is garbage lol" line, and when you try to discuss it with them they don't bring valid points to the table, such as Class....

However, i agree with pretty much everything you said.
Eminem stans take everything disrespectful and when they try to argue they fail because they're too angry at the person who has said something wrong, lol.

P.S. Being disappointed makes you even more of a fan than anyone else who likes everything Em puts out.
I still don't like it when people call him horrible, i do agree with that statement but i still give Em credit for being able to spit again, he had his moments in these last 3 years.
I still give him credit because i know that if anyone went through what Em did, wouldn't be able to get back on their feet, just sayin.

I always bring up valid points. Nice try though.

Just because you don't like his stuff post-Recovery (which really isn't of any exceptional quality) you're not a fan? That stuff is a miniscule of his overall work. It's a ridiculously small amount. If you like the majority of what he puts out sober then surely you have every right to call yourself fan.

Even if you only like his first 3 albums, you still have every right to call yourself a fan and post on this site.

I really don't get this idea that it's fine to praise everything he puts out but not criticise it? As long as you've got yourself a decent argument that makes sense, why not?

When Newcastle United got relegated and I was disgusted with their perfomances, does that mean I can't be a fan anymore? No, I just realised the team was going in the wrong direction and I was eager to see themselves put it right. I still turned up to matches, in the same way I listen to new Em songs. In both cases, I'm worried they're going to be poor, but I still hope they can be great.

(obviously I have more of an attachment to Newcastle United, than to Eminem, but you get my point)

Eminem is my favourite artist of all time. He's a genius. But, right now, his boring content, annoying punchlines, hoarse voice and repetition of subject matter is dissapointing me. Am I not a fan?

No the point is why waste your time on a fan site when you aren't a fan of the music they are puting out. But judging by you post count we are probably the only friends you have so for the first time I understand why your here.

Lol, you're a fucking idiot.

Well, when someone posts "This is garbage." without saying why, it's not a big deal to think he's a hater.

So even though I love the first three albums I should move on from Eminem if I don't like Relapse and Recovery.

And im not being a hater. I am making a critical opinoun on the albums/songs. I don't hate Eminem. I am just not a big fan of Relapse and Recovery.

Ur probably trolling but just in case ur not

Read this and you'll no longer be a Fan.

Definition of the word FAN

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fan_(person)

And in the urban dictionary: http://urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=fan

Acronym for "fuck a nigga" :confusion:
I'm out of the matrix and I improved my music taste here, I opened my eyes and discovered so different ways to see the world, thanks to you all!

That started here:

I agree but it goes both ways. Like for example if someone on this forum stated that they liked not afraid they would get called a retarded stan who loves to suck eminem's dick and should never post again by a bunch of people. The fact of the matter is that some people hate his new music and that doesn't make them not true fans, but on the other hand, someone who likes his new music, even songs that the majority of you dont like, is not always a fucktarded stan. Everyone is entitled to their opinion.
There's people that love me and people that hate me. But it's the evil that made me this backstabbing, deceitful, and shady.

No, TES is my favorite followed by MMLP. Then, we have a tie between SSLP & Recovery. I just said that I have the biggest emotional tie with Recovery.

I will admit that as time passes, in 5 years I might think of Recovery more highly than I do today.

Sure, you can dislike some songs and still be a fan. It's not like I'm thinking Fast Lane is dope. The important thing is that you really mean what you are saying. And that you are able to explain your thoughts. Not disrespect it just to act cool, repeating some shit heard by others.
