Concept wise or voice wise?
I think concept wise, it may have been forced, in the sense that he felt the need to shock people.
I think he put a lot of effort into the album though. Definitely not lazy, like Encore.

Well, it's 3 major things.
1. General aging, your voice continues to change your whole life as you get older.
2. Wear-and-tear of your voice. Spit on a mic almost every day for years and you'll notice that your voice will gradually get rougher (look at Infinite, he almost had the voice of a kid, then look at MMLP, his voice was tearing like crazy -- now he's learned to use that vocal tearing to his advantage)
3. Vocal effects. EQ, compression, and even a little bit of reverb and delay can have a HUGE effect on the way you sound. Em and Dre are masters in a studio, they know how to manipulate vocal effects to get whatever sound they want with ease.

Obviously.
But HOW does he do it? Every album sounds so natural.
