I like the song. But when he says "fuck you hip-hop, I'm leavin' you..." I don't believe him. I feel like the way he executed it did not make me believe he's talkin about hip-hop. I think to make it more believable he should've pushed it a little further somehow and made it a little more creative. You could easily miss that line or not listen to the whole song and walk away thinking he's just talking about Kim again.

But I still enjoy the song overall, although I dislike the chorus. I tend to skip over this song more than others. But this is just my opinion. At the end of the day it's still a good song.

Your point being?

2pac did Dear Mama on 1995, great song. Nas did Dance in 2002, great song. Kanye West did Hey Mama almost a decade after 2pac's Dear Mama, great song.

..and Eminem did 25 to life in 2010, MORE than a decade after Common's 'I used to love H.E.R', NOT a great song, that's the problem y'see. 25 to life is far from convincing , was painfully predictable ( for me) and downright lazy.

You are reiterating what I said. My question is, again, your point being?

The hell if 25 to Life is "similar" to a song that has been made in the past. Thinking that a song is "unoriginal" or "bad" because of its similarities to other song is a ridiculously awful argument.

20 years from now an artist could make another "hip-hop as life" metaphor track, and -- if the song is good -- it will be good, period.

Have to disagree, 25 To Life is completely convincing. I hate the pointless shouting as much as anyone but this was different, he was genuinelly pissed/fed-up about giving everything he has to the game but not getting the same love back (in his mind).

You're not making any sense with your argument, there are numerous types of tracks that people which are taking a concept, but Eminem makes it his own, and it fits the concept of Recovery perfectly. For me its what the album is all about. Come on, have you not heard Pac's Me and My Girlfriend, its the same concept. Yes he did it first, it was good, so was Eminem's 25 to Life etc. Your argument is flawed and so subjective its laughable. You're letting your dislike for Recovery cloud your judgement.

I love the song, my favorite since his comeback so far.

Came back to annihilate, the game's in dire straights, as I await
Word on Satan, as I drop, fall to my knees before this Quija board and I pray
Now I lay me down to sleep
I do this shit in my sleep, I’m sleepin' now, imagine if I awake

Who said anything about me disliking Recovery? :confusion: It's not a spectacular album but I don't necessarily dislike it. In fact, I can safely say I like 75% of it. But just because you said "Eminem makes it his own" and "it fits the concept of Recovery perfectly" doesn't necessarily make it true. The song, for me, failed to convince me/captivate/intrigue etc, hence my dislike. Sounds forced and to be honest it wasn't necessary on the album.

My opinion at the end of the day. :coffee:

he makes a song with a never tried concept and what y'll do is bitch about it .
well 4 me the song stands out as one of his finest one's i mean it is only in the last line you know what he was saying all the time ,the whole song is a metaphor if you ask me .
[Rollefsen] - SajN retired, bitch got old, unlike Sams "ladies".

On 25 to life he raps with a lot of energy, has a good hook, a decent beat and it is a nice concept. Stood out as one of the best off recovery right away for me.

Almost Famous, Cinderella Man, and So Bad could be called underrated easily...Notice how I said as a whole.

What are your favorite songs on Recovery?
