Most of his.

He's always at his best when producing for himself and he's the best man for the job. As he creates music around the flows, in his head. So it sounds perfect and unique.

My favourite he's rapped over is probably "The Way I Am".

Right up there would be... "Square Dance", "Lose Yourself", "Soldier" and "Renegade".

In fact, those that I've just mentioned I think are probably the upper tier of beats he's rapper over. Better than Dre's. I prefer Em's production to Dre's anyway.

Dre's never done anything like "Renegade". Em always puts pianos or chords and strings etc., sounds more like real music ("No Apologies") rather than just simple rap beats. There's always an atmosphere to his beats, and a memorable melody.

Elton John said something about melody when accrediting Em's success when he elected Em as one of the 100 Greatest Artists for Rolling Stone too. I think he said something along the lines of, Em's great gift has been fitting complex rhymes to melody... or something.

Which is true. All good music has melody, as does a lot of rap, but I don't feel any rapper truly married the two like Em did and hasn't done as well since. Take something like "Without Me", it's just this constantly driven forward melody, the rapping becomes a melody, yet still feels authentic and gritty... usually, rapper's seem 'separated' from the beat, 'above' it.

My personal favorite is what he did on Patiently Waiting. The way he complimented the build up and the hook was just awesome. Then there is Square Dance and White America which were so simple yet did the job :)

Purple Pills. I love the way the chorus just blends into the beat.

Yeah well I don't know where that comes from.

I think just like people like to call Kanye a shitty rapper... because, he's a producer first, and a rapper second. Which is the same for Em in reverse.

So because of that they intuitively discredit their second love or output a little more than they would anybody else. I think if Em was JUST a producer, he'd be rated among the best.

Most people agree The Eminem Show is his best produced album, and HE produced it. So how can people say he's nowhere near Dre or the top producers if they think his best produced album was done by him. When his others were done by Dre and Mel Man etc.

How could anybody hear "The Way I Am" beat or "Renegade" beat and say they're not unique or above average. They're fantastic, atmospheric beats. I think his production gets under your skin more, and for his own rapping, fits better than any Dre beats.

And listen to something like "Cleanin' Out My Closet"... I can't even think of another rap producer that's come up with melodies like that which sound like instantly classic, memorable musical melodies. Even Kanye, he samples a lot and does a lot of innovative stuff with the music, but no Kanye beat ever made sticks in my head like "Cleanin' Out My Closet" or "Lose Yourself". They're so memorable and classic.
