Underrated? ehhh, I dunno.
"Cold Wind Blows", "Cinderella Man" and "Almost Famous" are probably my top three tracks from the album. But, none of those are really underrated.
"Space Bound" is a brilliant track but I saw one critic call it 'pure filler' lmao. Which is absurd. Don't know what kind of definition of 'filler' that guy has. But everybody else seems to like it so again, it's hardly underrated.
I think I'd say "W.T.P." or "So Bad" are the two most underrated. They're both kind of looked at as silly / throwaway tracks, which in subject-matter they may be. But the technique and flows are still brilliant, and they're very enjoyable to listen to.
"W.T.P." has flashes of his actual vintage wit for me too. When he says "I'll be damned if I feed a chick, it ain't like me to split a piece of dry peta!" - that captures the VINTAGE Shady wit. Such as "I'm still the same lame asshole with a different name".
Making himself out to be the creep, the opposite of cool / romantic. Which is why I like these lines about taking women to McDonalds drive throughs and being a cheapo etc. too lmao. It's just the execution / style that may sometimes ruin them aka puns. But the spirit of the wit is there.
But, he made being an asshole loser creep, cool. That's vintage Shady. Imagine him delivering that "W.T.P." line in the 98/99 style. Style can make lyricism seem a lot different. I was listening to "Dead Wrong" the other day and the whole verse is just about cannibalism, perverted sex and violence, like Relapse. It's just the STYLE that makes it seem drastically different.
