SSLP - He came out, critics didn't like his music, and the masses were like "ehh"
MMLP - He's criticizing critics for hating on his music dawg. His fans love him.
Relapse - He came out, ONCE MORE, but his critics weren't really feelin' his shit. The masses were like "ehh" but the true hip hop heads were like YEAHHH!
Recovery - He's criticizing critics ONCE MORE for hating on Relapse. His fans love him even more..
If this theory is true, expect the next album to have subject matter like The Eminem Show.
You got it all wrong my dude...
The masses or people who are not into hip-hop, plus a lotta critics were always & will always gonna be like "ehh" "wtf" etc. regarding EM's albums while Hip-hop fans were mostly doubting EM before 'TSSLP' & when it dropped everybody was like "DAMN". Apart from those same critics who'd shit on his albums whatsoever, 'TSSLP' was acclaimed album from day one, esp. on the West Coast & to be honest it was never ciritisized about the quality of the album, mostly about violence & homophobia or in 'The Source' case 'cuz EM was a white dude who does black peeps' music.
'Relapse' was critisized mostly 'cuz of the accents or 'cuz it was all over the place but like you said whoever knows Hip-hop was like "YEAH" 'cuz EM is spitting fire balls on it. The problem with it was general buyers didn't feel it, not critics or whoever but unlike you said, Eminem himself critisized 'Relapse' on "Recovery" first & then ridiculously critisized critics for doing so which made it clear he was told if he wants his super sales back, he had to convince his fans he KNOWS & agrees with 'em he fucked up with his last two albums but now with 'Recovery' he's back & brings something totally different. I mean it's good tactics & it worked 'cuz it's easier to convince people you believe in something you actually don't, rather than convince 'em to believe in something they surely don't, but it's ridiculous when you contradict yourself on the same album & even more ridiculous when you contradict yourself on the same song as in "Not Afraid" EM goes...
"From "Infinite" down to the last 'Relapse' album
he's still shittin, whether he's on salary paid hourly
Until he bows out or he shits his bowels out of him"
& then
"Let's be honest, that last "Relapse" CD was ehhh"
If you add he's praised 'Relapse' on other songs after "Recovery" it becomes crystal overall.
Bottom line is... nothing what happened in the past resembles to what is happening now & Eminem's next album is gonna most likely be way different than every other one he's done, esp. 'The Eminem Show' in that matter.
