Say your opinion, don't present them as facts "Saying Royce was on par with Eminem just isn't true". It sounded like you're presenting science-proven facts reviewed by a thousand of professional rap analyzers.
And in a discussion board, you don't have to argue about everything possible, sometimes you just wanna post and leave, done, I debated with you once already for you to know that I do these debates but I'm simply not feeling like it. But even if I wanted to display my disagreement towards another person's opinion I would say something like "I prefer ___ because *insert one line or three essays here*". I wouldn't force it up like "__ is better", or "that just isn't right".
Can't believe I wrote all that shit fron my phone, should have a lot of typos but whateva.
The very fact you responded in the way you did shows that you can't handle opposing views, when they are communicated with any assertiveness.
You said, and I quote "Royce's verse needs more appreciation tbh, most underrated verse in there,
definitely goes with Em's verse if not better." - You didn't say "I prefer Royce's verse to Eminem's". You stated that it 'definitely' goes with Em's verse, if not better.
How is that any different? you know why I didn't respond stating it was 'only your opinion'? because that's absolutely obvious and implied. The fact it's coming out of your mouth, and based on your taste, means, it's your opinion. We don't need to state that.
And just because it's opinion doesn't mean we need to keep bowing to each other in courtesy and stating it, or saying "oh by the way, this is just MY taste", we know. It's redundant. You can state your opinions with as much assertiveness as you like.
You said that the way you did because based on what you consider good / bad, you determine that Royce's verse is as good as, or better than, Eminem's. Now, based on what I consider good / bad, I don't. So I'm going to state what I think, with just as much, if not more assertiveness as I'm expressing my disagreement with your view.
I can't tell you that you prefer Eminem's verse if you don't anymore than you can tell me I prefer Royce's when I don't. That is the only truly subjective element here, and constantly emphasizing it is tedious, it's implied and we get it, we all get that.
Taste is rooted in and fed by objective reasoning. So, the reasons as to why you think Royce's is as good or better, are not random. Taste may at first feel inherently random or personal but it all has a logical basis in some sense. So, as long as you can justify your basis for your taste, you can assert it with as much assurance and confidence as you wish.
I didn't personally insult you, I didn't say you can't prefer Royce's verse - I simply explained, why I do not believe what you believe, to be the case. Deal, with it.
If you don't wish to have the debate or discussion, simply don't respond. Easy.
