Gotta agree with name, even though I'm kinda biased. But Lupe's complexity and his ability to have 2-3 meanings in many lines and even in a whole song is just amazing. No one is on his level when it comes to that. He also menages to push messages along those riddling/mind-fucking lines.
Also, his concepts and storytelling are incredible too. His use of personification goes very deep, and he's been able to create characters and stories out of scratch, and has explored them on several levels. He has a very wide range of reference, ranging from Japanese Comic Books, to American Cartoons, Video Games etc. On top of that he's educated on fields like politics and has rapped on variety of topics.
Further more, his flow and intonation patters, especially in 2006-07 were untouchable and didn't rely on rhyming. Kendricks flow is amazing, but his voice is usually the same, it's the strings of rhymes/certain words that make it more appealing. Not that that's bad, but Lupe's play with his voice (check out Dead Presidents Freestyle, Mean And Vicious, or Switch) is perfect. Also, F&L and The Cool are considered classics by many people, so his body of work is great as well.
