Now there are many that hate Relapse with a passion and consider it to be one of Eminem`s worst albums and there are those who appreciate the album, but like me there are those who realize how amazing the album truly was in terms of not letting silly reasons like the accent or subject matter get to us. I personally think the album is a classic and a really genius rap record. Many people complain about the accent, and that it is annoying but don`t understand the sheer genius of Eminem when in regards to representing the theme. Relapse had phenomenal production, amazing flow, breathtaking lyrics, and had great storytelling theme! My favorite tracks are Underground, Deja Vu, Beautiful, Insane, 3am, My Mom, Stay Wide Awake, and Medicine Ball as well as the bonus tracks, I also like the Relapse: Refill tracks. Another thing I forgot to mention is the fact that many seem to use the whole Eminem hate card in which they say Eminem addresses the album in songs such as Talkin 2 Myself, Not Afraid, and Cinderella Man, saying that he hates the album. But honestly it does not change my opinion, who knows, Eminem can even personally see it as some of his best work. I liked how Eminem addresses the situation in a funny as well as interesting way while showcasing his great storytelling abilities on the song called The Reunion that features Royce Da 5`9 in what we all know is considered to being not only one of the best tracks but one of the fans favorite tracks from the Bad Meets Evil: Hell the Sequel EP.
Now personally the accent did sound strange, weird and unnecessary to me at first but once I started to listen to it more often, having an open mind, I really actually enjoyed the album as I consider it to be an underrated classic. Now if the accent did annoy you or make you hate the record I do understand where you are coming from but at the same time I can`t really see how that makes the album worse than Encore. I was also wondering if you guys want to see a Relapse 2 in the future without the addition of accents and I agree, if Relapse did not have the accents it would of worked out better but at the end of the day everyone has a different opinion. I would love to see Em make an official Relapse 2 without the accent and with a new as well as refreshing theme. I know many are going to dismiss the idea and say that Relapse: Refill was a sequel when in reality it actually wasn`t. It was extra material for the album. So do you guys want to see a Relapse 2 without the accents and in the form of a bonus album from Em? What direction would you want to see Eminem take it in? I agree that the Slim Shady on Relapse is different in comparison to the one that we saw on the Slim Shady LP but I always saw the situation as this being the Heath Ledger version of Slim Shady, do you agree? Let me know! Now if this was already brought up within the forum in some shape or form, forgive me and its nothing personal I just wanted to elaborate on the matter. By the way another underrated classic or great album for me is also Recovery but that is a discussion for another day.
