There's a reason Nas is a respected lyricist and Soulja Boi isn't.

I agree they can be easier to judge, and there are certainly quantifiable aspects- complexity of rhyme scheme, etc.- but this verse has a reasonably complex rhyme scheme.

I tend to disregard rhymes when the actual lyrics are bad. Sure there's probably some multies but what he's actually saying is stupid and reasonably complex rhymes aren't going to make it much better. There's much more complex aspects to lyricism and this verse is devoid of most of them.

When he does features he just tries to ride the beat and use different flows. He is going to be selfish and use his creative, emotional and technical material on a solo album in order to make the best album he can.

i know what you mean and you have a point but there's gotta be a standard.

i don't understand why did he even agree to collab with Rihanna if he was going to write this kind of verse which obviously took him less than 3-4 minutes to write down when ppl all over the world are gonna listen to this track.

My point was clearer if you don't cut me off right after mentioning the rhyme schemes.
That's basically my point. Blu can ask us to explain what's good about it, but pretty much all we can say is "this part was stupid" or "this part was cool/interesting/witty", then he disagrees. Then maybe the whole thing catches on and goes into a

Person1:"well what's witty about it"
Person2:"It had a double meaning/some pun/It just is/It links seemingly unrelated things in a [unquantifiably] graceful way"
Person3:"Just becase it has (whatever person2 said) doesn't mean it's witty"
Person4:"You guys suck"

There's a strong correlation between how bad the beat is and how bad Eminem will be. As soon as I heard that 808 sound, I knew it was going to be a shit song.

I thought the whole verse was cool except for the 'butt-police' line and the 'plastered/drywall' bit, and really felt like after the 'rearearear' bit it was very catchy, among other things.
I felt that the second half bared resemblance to some rhythms in "Take From Me"
I did feel that his "Here Comes the Weekend" verse was somewhat better written, but thank goodness this one had a listenable beat. I've listened to his HCTW verse literally 2593 times, I've come to like the iTunes 'Play Count' option, but still can't get into that beat.

Yeah that can and does happen, like if you said "I'm so done with this shit that I may as well wipe" was a better line than "I'll acappella the whole left side of his chest" I'd just shrug you off. My main point was that lyricism is more objective than ones perception of breasts, lol.

It's not all about the rhyme schemes, the overall verse was bad because what he was rapping about was terrible and every five seconds some shitty ad-lib would come in and want me to rip my ears out. The verse isn't entertaining, it's certainly not informing me of anything new. There's nothing good about the verse unless you're only looking at the rhymes. Subject-wise, this verse is very terrible.

The flow might sound "cool" at first, but that adds very little to the song. I'm sure you've heard some rappers that have weird flows, but still have entertaining verses.

This far in Em's career, I'm more focused on his content, what he has to say. He can obviously execute a bunch of multi's and whatnot, but the content is what really brings the verse to life. It's why tons of people wrote Relapse off, all he was doing was rhyming for the most part. Very few songs where he brought the songs to life and illustrated a story.

Uh...what? Most of the songs on Relapse told stories.

wow, definitely don't like this. I'm betting that the Skylar and 50 cent features will be much better.
I'm putting my money on 50 cent's single to be the most promising

^I'm not particularly interested in the Skylar song (the video, on the other hand, looks entertaining) but I'm also really looking forward to the 50 song.

I didnt liked it because of his delivery, it didnt fit the song at all, and the screaming didnt quite worked. yeah, it was a good craft, but as music, it doesnt sound good... I actually even think he ruined the song, cuz for a rihanna song, is not that bad. But maybe would've been better without Eminem..... sorry, just sayin
