Then one day, I listened to GKMC again. It clicked. I enjoyed it. I appreciated his story-telling. His emotional depth. His imagery. He has good rhymes sometimes too.
What I'm trying to say is: I appreciate Kendrick for his above skill-set. His flows too. I just don't think he's all there yet rhyme-wise. Once he gets there and still can show us his superb story-telling, holy fuck, I'll be the biggest nut-rider of his you've ever seen. Real talk.
Don't even think of taking that as I put rhyming above everything. But it IS important to rap music. It shows you care about the technical-side. You can have all the emotional depth and storytelling in the world, but I just feel if... you don't rhyme... I don't feel you're trying your hardest. If that makes sense. That probably makes it sound terrible haha.
For me, I love rhyming. I think it's the best thing ever lol. I appreciate artists who can write crazy schemes and intertwine them and make them beautiful interlaced with emotional depth, story-telling... etc. Which is why I love Em so much. Watsky too (just an example, lay off me). That is why I like artists to rhyme!!
Long story short: I appreciate Kendrick for what he does: story-telling, depth, imagery, and flow. I just wish he'd rhyme better.
I think all you Kendrick-lovers can live with that?
