Really good.
It's a good album.
I also have a personal investment in it because when it dropped, I had pulled a muscle in my leg pretty seriously. So much so that it felt like I pinched a nerve in my spine. I was on bed rest for like 3 weeks, I quite literally couldn't sit or walk -- just lay in bed for the majority of the day.
It was summer too, and while all my friends were out partying and shit, I was stuck inside. All I had to get me through that time was Recovery.
It played a big role in me bouncing back. I would start walking/jogging through pain while listening to songs like Not Afraid and Cinderella Man like, fuck this shit. This is not gonna be the story of my summer.
It helped get me out of that depression and probably sped up my recovery process by a few weeks.
That's probably the biggest example I can think of when talking about how relatable and motivational his music is. It got me out of bed, even though I was in a lot of pain, and made me fight through it. You know, two to three weeks locked up in your room -- it's not even just a physical issue at that point. Your thoughts drive you nuts when you can't leave the house to clear your head or any of that. The album brought my spirits up. He has a way of saying things that just connect with his listeners.
