That's exactly what I was thinking. I'm not going to expect it to blow me away on first listen.

same with em tho, but with full albums and some singles. for example berzerk was a big let down at first but then it got goat and all his albums have a specific sound to them that at first listen they sound the same, when mmlp2 leaked i didn't know what to think untill second listen

I disagree, i mean every artist has one of those songs every now and then but generally i think ems are pretty straight forward straight out the gate,
Only other person i can think of that takes as much digestion with their songs as kenny is kanye probably, apart from people who make their songs to be digested like that of course like el-p, aesop rock, sadistik, etc.

Honestly I think all of the Rick Rubin songs had to grow on me to some extent. There were things I really liked from the beginning, but it took a little while to fully appreciate them. I think that would be a safe expectation to have. I'm confident it will be a great song, but it might take a few listens before it sinks in.

I had the same thing happen to me with the Rubin songs, with the exception of Rhyme Or Reason which I enjoyed a lot on the first listen.

My sentiment is the same with Kendrick.
" Life can change your directions, even when you ain't planned it
All you can do it handle it, worst thing you can do is panic
Use it to your advantage, avoid insanity manage
To conquer, every obstacle, make impossible possible
Even when winning illogical, losing is still far from optional.." -T.I.

I completely agree with what is said till now. I had to listen to GKMC as a whole to respect his art and get into his songs. Before the album i had only listened to "Swiming Pools" as a "single" and i was like... eeh! But now i keep bumping the shit out of this CD.

a lot of people saying this album might be the continuation of GKMC.

the single is called "i ", but was recently rumored to be called i (love myself). At the end of every verse in Real on GKMC, he says "What's love got to do with it if you don't love yourself." GKMC ends with Kendrick becoming what he is today irl. Any continuation would just be a day in the life of kendrick lamar the rapper, whatever that entails. The story's being continued...i love myself.

And maybe kendrick is predicting his own death:

"If Pirus and Crips all got along
They'd probably gun me down by the end of this song"
-maad city

:-k

btw, if its an international release (itunes) then the song should be out in a few hours... its already very late in Sidney. Hopefully its not a radio premiere. But if they want it on itunes it will be there first regardless. if not they have to wait til next week

I think this would be fantastic. I think Kendrick has too much to say now, and wouldn't be able to do a full-on concept album like GKMC. An album similar to Section.80 would make sense, as it had a loose concept that still allowed him to rap, for the most part, about whatever he wanted.
