Autotune has helped shape hip hop as we now know it, but that doesn't mean that autotune is the roots of which hip hop originated. Soul Music is composed of 3/4 musical genres: Gospel, jazz, blues... These elements were the key elements of Ray Charles' first album, the same album that helped to shape Rock Music.
Without Gospel, jazz and blues which are the elements of Soul Music, there's no rock music.
