the aggression and ferocity of rock music played a big role in shaping hip-hop as a genre as well though. The rock influence arrived as soon as people began rapping.... just listen to the earliest land mark albums in the genre's history and there was a heavy rock influence, arguably more so than any other genre. Run DMC, The Beastie Boys, LL Cool J, and Public Enemy all made rock influenced music in the 80s.

Rock was heavily influenced by rhythm and blues and country music when it first came on. it incorporated influences from jazz, soul, classical and many other genres.

"itself heavily influenced by rhythm and blues and country music. Rock music also drew strongly on a number of other genres such as blues and folk, and incorporated influences from jazz, classical and other musical sources."

So you pulled soul out of your ass and added it to your paraphrased sentence from wikipedia?

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rock_music

soul music itself didn't come around till after rock music man :coffee:

I didn't even know it was on wikipedia, I just wanted to verify the dates and it looks like wikipedia uses the same source (a book) as I did :coffee:

I never pull anything out of my ass :coffee:

he. When soul came out it directly influenced Rock music :coffee:

Lance.... Soul music had absolutely no influence in the formation of rock n roll music as the genre came about after rock n roll.

yeah, thats why it became totally different once Soul music came out...

Aone destroyed lance earlier with that post and lance should've stopped there tbh.

he didn't destroy me.. none of us were born when these musical genres came out. I'd rather back up my arguments with sources rather than pulling shit out of my ass

You lost... just accept it and move along, we've derailed the thread enough and I will not continue to entertain your L.

I have several sources to confirm what I said so theres no wrong with adding that part.

You lost homie

Everyone but Aone.

I thought it was common sense that Rock before & after Soul music were very different. I just used a few sources to verify what I was saying and now this nigga saying I took an L

Maybe, but if the argument was that it was the roots of said music then it's different. Autotune has helped shape hip hop as we now know it, but that doesn't mean that autotune is the roots of which hip hop originated. Then again, I still don't know if I'm 100% on page with what exactly is trying to be argued so I don't know lol

Aone & King Lance don't know what they're talking about. Lance is right but for the wrong reason

Soul Music is composed of 3/4 musical genres: Gospel, jazz, blues... These elements were the key elements of Ray Charles' first album, the same album that helped to shape Rock Music.
Without Gospel, jazz and blues which are the elements of Soul Music, there's no rock music.

Rock music was birthed by Jazz, Gospel and Blues that appeared before Rock. Soul is just a mixture of these 3 genres

:y: :b: :b: :b: :b:

The name just came later, At one point it was impossible to hear Jazz without Blues or Blues without Gospel. The name came out later but the music was already there
